Lepage And BAM Racing Team Experience Setback At Kansas Speedway- Team fails to qualify for race despite focused effort; Looks to future with determination
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 1, 2006) ? The BAM Racing organization, in a period of restructuring for the 2007 season, has welcome crew changes and sponsor additions in recent weeks while enjoying great improvement in its qualifying efforts. The team has not missed a race since the AMD at the Glen at Watkins Glen International in August. Both driver Kevin Lepage and the entire team were hopeful to continue that momentum headed into Kansas this weekend.
With 47 entries listed for Sunday's Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway, 12 competitors were required to qualify on time. To tighten the competition, two past champions were included among the group.
Lepage hit the track for the only practice session on Friday in full qualifying mode. He finished the session in the 45th position after posting a fast lap time of 31.715 seconds. A late qualifying draw allowed both driver and team to focus their energies on the task at hand.
With just hours before qualifying was set to begin, the BAM Racing team worked relentlessly to make changes to the No. 49 Dodge in an effort to improve lap times during qualifying.
Lepage was the 40th competitor to take the track for qualifying on Friday afternoon. He posted a qualifying speed of 170.616 miles per hour and a fast lap time of 31.650 seconds. Unfortunately, the effort was not strong enough to secure the team a place in the starting lineup for Sunday's race. Lepage qualified in the 45th position.
"We are all disappointed that we did not make the race," said Lepage. "This team works incredibly hard and is dedicated to racing competitively each and every week. On top of that, we have experienced changes all season long. This weekend is a setback but it is not indicative of the caliber of this team. We will put this weekend behind us and turn our attention to the upcoming race at Talladega Superspeedway."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for the UAW-Ford 500. The race will air live on NBC at 1:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.
Fourth Annual Kevin Lepage Charity Golf Tournament A Huge Success- Vermont native raises over $21,000 in charitable funds to benefit various state charities
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 29, 2006) - NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Kevin Lepage, in conjunction with the Kevin Lepage Foundation, recently held the fourth annual Kevin Lepage Charity Golf Tournament in Hinesburg, Vt. The event raised in excess of $21,000 with proceeds remaining in Vermont to benefit various state charities.
Over the years, the Kevin Lepage Foundation has raised over $90,000 in funds benefiting charities that serve the people of Vermont. This year's selected charities included the state's chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Vermont Kidney Association, and the Vermont National Guard Family Readiness Chapter which provides support to deployed military personnel and families.
"Donna and I would like to thank the sponsors that played a big part in making this tournament a success as well as all the players," commented Lepage. "There were many generous supporters at the dinner for the silent auction. One of the biggest items auctioned was a 2006 framed Goodyear poster signed by all the Nextel drivers that sold for $1,600. We also auctioned a ride down the Lake Placid bobsled run with none other than Nascar driver and Vermont native Kevin Lepage."
Lepage intends to hold the golf tournament again next year and hopes this year's success is just the beginning.
"It is very important to me to give back to the fans from Vermont that have supported me from the beginning of my career," said Lepage. "We are already making plans for next year's event with every intention of making it our best tournament yet."

Lepage Experiences Highs And Lows At Dover International Speedway- Captures season-best starting position before accident ends day early for BAM Racing team
DOVER, Del. (Sept. 24, 2006) - Last June, Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team qualified for the first race of the season at Dover International Speedway in an impressive 18th place. Both driver and team returned to the "Monster Mile" this weekend determined to improve upon that season-best start. Lepage did just that on Friday posting a qualifying time of 23.235 seconds and capturing the 11th starting position for Sunday's Dover 400. With excitement and momentum behind them, everyone was prepared for a solid run on Sunday. Unfortunately, Lepage was involved in a single-car accident that ended the day early for the team. He finished the race in 37th place.
After capturing the team's best starting position of the season, Lepage was ready to contend with the leaders at the "Monster Mile." With the 2007 season rapidly approaching, the team once again realized the importance of the day.
"Thanks for your hard work this weekend," radioed Lepage. "We've got a great starting position and have the opportunity to learn for our return to Dover next season. Let's have a good day and work hard to stay up front."
The race had barely begun when Lepage was pushed up the track and scraped the wall on lap two. The damage to the car was minimal and the team opted not to make a pit stop in order to maintain track position.
The first of 10 cautions came out just a couple of laps later. Lepage noted that the WhatsOnline.com Dodge was loose. However, the team once again opted to stay out on the track. Lepage restarted the race in 23rd place.
When an accident in turn four occurred on lap 11, the team decided to adjust the racecar to help the loose condition. Lepage brought the No. 49 Dodge to pit road for four tires and fuel. A spring rubber was also put in the rear spring. He restarted the race in 36th position.
Determined to overcome the 25 position deficit, Lepage was focused on regaining track position and moving back to the front of the field.
As he got a feel for the car, Lepage noted that the WhatsOnline.com Dodge was better but slightly tight in the center of the turns and loose on exit. The team used subsequent pit stops to make further adjustments to improve the racecar.
On lap 84, Lepage was passed by then leader Matt Kenseth and found himself one lap down. When a caution came out on lap 98, he relayed that he was having difficulty exiting the corners. Lepage came to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments. He restarted the race in 35th place.
The WhatsOnline team continued to adjust the No. 49 Dodge as Lepage worked to regain position on the track. Then suddenly, on lap 182, Lepage was involved in a single-car accident in turn two. He hit the wall damaging the BAM Racing Dodge beyond repair. He ultimately finished the race in the 37th position.
"We started the weekend on such a high note," commented Lepage. "We captured our best starting position of the season and were excited to race on Sunday. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get the car dialed in although everyone worked hard all afternoon. I'm disappointed that we fell out of the race. It wasn't the finish we had hoped for but we will move forward and focus on next weekend in Kansas."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the Banquet 400. The race will air live on NBC at 1:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

WhatsOnline.com Speeds on to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Scene in Dover ... BAM Racing is pleased to welcome WhatsOnline.com as primary sponsor for the No. 49 Dodge starting this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Visitors taking a peek of the new site can enter the WhatsOnline.com Diamond-A-Day Sweepstakes daily for a chance to win a beautiful hand-picked Lazare Kaplan diamond.
"WhatsOnline.com is an innovative and new website," commented BAM Racing owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. "We are excited to welcome WhatsOnline.com and Abble Media to our family of sponsors. Lepage at Dover International Speedway ... Lepage has 15 Nextel Cup Series starts at Dover International Speedway. He has two top-five starts at the 1.0-mile oval with a track-best starting position of 4th (09/20/98) and an average starting position of 28.2. Lepage has two top-10 finishes at the "Monster Mile" with a track-best finish of 12th (09/20/98) and an average finish of 28.7.
In June, Lepage ran over a brake rotor and punctured the engine oil cooler on the No. 49 Dodge while breaking the mounting brackets. Despite the quick action and best efforts of the team to make repairs, the engine on the No. 49 Dodge was damaged and blew up the very lap Lepage returned to racing action. The race ended early for Lepage who finished the Neighborhood Excellence 400 in the 39th position.
Lepage on Dover International Speedway ... "Dover is challenging track for even the best drivers. You really need a car that can get into the corners and turn at this track. You also have to focus on tire management as tires will wear out quickly on the concrete surface. Because it is hard to pass at Dover, track position will be crucial. We had a strong car here in June and qualified in the top-20. Hopefully we can do that again and give ourselves every opportunity to succeed."

Lepage And BAM Racing Team Continue Forward Momentum In Loudon Lepage races smart and avoids trouble on track; Secures 30th place finish for No. 49 team
LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 16, 2006) - New Englander Kevin Lepage returned to his home track, New Hampshire International Speedway, for the final race of the season at the 1.058-mile oval. Lepage spent the week leading up to the Sylvania 300 in his native Vermont where he hosted the fourth annual Kevin Lepage Charity Golf Tournament to benefit various state charities. After finding success on the golf course, he turned his attention to achieving success on the track. Lepage qualified on time for Sunday's race in the 40th position. He battled a loose racecar during the action-packed afternoon to finish the race in 30th place.
As the field approached the green flag, excitement was in the air and on the track. With drivers scrambling for position early in the race, it only took a couple of laps before the first caution of the day occurred. Lepage chose to race smart and avoid trouble on the track.
"It was smart to back out and let them go," crew chief David Hyder radioed his driver. "It looked pretty wild out there."
Lepage radioed that the LoansDepot.com Dodge was extremely loose. Both driver and team were aware that the track would get tighter as the afternoon went on and did not want to over-adjust the racecar. The team opted to pit for fuel only and a track bar adjustment.
The adjustment improved the No. 49 Dodge, but Lepage relayed that the car was tight in the center of the turns and loose on exit. The team used a series of cautions in the first half of the race to make additional improvements to the car.
By the mid-point of the race, Lepage was posted in the 33rd position running one lap down to the leader. Noting that the BAM Racing Dodge was still loose, the team prepared to make further adjustments and decided to employ fuel mileage strategy.
When a caution came out on lap 200, Lepage suggested a quick pit stop for fuel in an attempt to stay out on the track for the remainder of the race. Even though the majority of competitors opted not to pit, Lepage came to pit road for fuel only.
"Let's try to get on our own program," Lepage radioed his team. "Let's top off with fuel. Hopefully we can at least pick up some track position."
The fuel mileage strategy did not allow Lepage to make it to the end of the race without pitting, but he was able to position himself for a late-race battle with the No. 4 car for the last 30 laps of the race. Lepage ultimately passed driver Scott Wimmer to capture a 30th place finish.
"The cars you have given me the past two weeks have been consistent," Lepage radioed the crew. "We keep working to adjust the cars during the race and are close to getting them dialed in. We're definitely on the right track."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to Dover International Speedway this weekend for the Dover 400. The race will air live on the TNT network at 12:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

In July, Lepage drew upon his roots in racing and years of experience at New Hampshire International Speedway to secure a 38th place starting position for the Lenox Industrial Tools 300. The BAM Racing team worked tirelessly in the pits to make improvements to the No. 49 Dodge while Lepage successfully avoided trouble on the track to capture a 30th place finish.
Lepage on New Hampshire International Speedway... "I enjoy racing at New Hampshire International Speedway because I consider it my home track. Being from New England, I enjoy reconnecting with the fans that have supported me through the years. A Familiar Face Ushers In A New Day For BAM Racing Team In Richmond- Hyder returns as crew chief; Lepage battles loose condition to secure 33rd place finish
RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 11, 2006) - Although all eyes were on the possible contenders for the Chase for the Nextel Cup at Richmond International Raceway, the BAM Racing team welcomed the return of David Hyder as crew chief for the No. 49 Dodge with much enthusiasm. In 43 previous starts with the team, Hyder captured three top-10, six top-15 and 11 top-20 finishes. After only one practice session for the entire weekend, Kevin Lepage qualified for the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 in the 39th position. He battled a loose racecar for much of the race to secure a 33rd place finish.
As the field approached the green flag, the crowd of over 100,000 fans was ready for the excitement of Richmond International Raceway.
"There's a new guy on top of the box," Lepage radioed his team. "This program is definitely moving forward. Everyone's done a great job all year so let's keep it up tonight."
On lap 12, Lepage reported that the RoadLoans Dodge was tight in the center of the turns and loose on exit. When the first of seven cautions came out on lap 36, Lepage had just become the first driver one lap down and was able to quickly get back on the lead lap. He pitted for four tires, fuel and adjustments. Lepage restarted the race in the 37th position.
When the next caution flag flew on lap 82, Lepage relayed that the No. 49 Dodge was handling better in the center of the turns but still and loose on exit. He came to pit road for four tires, fuel and a shock adjustment. He lined up to restart the race in the 32nd position.
The adjustments seemed to help the RoadLoans Dodge as Lepage posted competitive lap times. However, the racecar was still loose on the exit of the corners. The BAM Racing team opted for substantial adjustments under caution on lap 123. Lepage pitted for four tires, fuel, and air pressure adjustments. The team also removed a spring rubber from the right rear spring.
By the mid-point of the race, Lepage was posted in the 33rd position running one lap down to the leader. Noting that the BAM Racing Dodge was still loose, the team prepared to make further adjustments.
"Just work with it," Hyder radioed his driver. "Hopefully we'll get another caution soon and can make more changes."
The BAM Racing team worked tirelessly to improve the RoadLoans Dodge; however the loose condition that plagued the car from the onset of the race persisted despite everyone's best efforts. Lepage finished the race in 33rd place.
Kevin Harvick captured his eighth Nextel Cup Series victory and secured a place in the Chase for the Nextel Cup by taking the checkered flag at Richmond International Raceway. The remaining Chase contenders include Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Khane.
"We weren't able to get the car dialed in tonight," said Lepage. "We only had one practice session on Friday with this race being an impound event. When you are trying to qualify each week on time, it is hard to work on both qualifying and race runs in just one practice session. That said, this team is moving in the right direction and everyone is motivated to finish strong this season."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to New Hampshire International Speedway this weekend for the Sylvania 300. The race will air live on the TNT network at 12:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

Hyder, a High Point, N.C. native, joined BAM Racing in October of 2004 as crew chief for Ken Schrader leading the team throughout the 2005 season. In 2006, Hyder joined Schrader at Wood Brothers Racing but now returns to build upon an impressive record with BAM Racing.
In a total of 43 races with BAM Racing, Hyder captured three top-10, six top-15 and 11 top-20 finishes. In addition, he secured one top-10, five top-15 and seven top-20 starts during his tenure with the team.
"I welcome the opportunity to effect change as a crew chief," said Hyder. "I have respect for this team and I enjoy working with this organization. We have a history of success together and I feel very fortunate to have the chance to build upon that record. The team that is being assembled is the right group to build a strong foundation for the 2007 season."
With the No. 49 team currently outside of the top-35 in the owner points standings, Hyder returns with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Under his direction, the No. 49 team finished 33rd in the owner points standings in 2004 and 31st in 2005.
Joining Hyder in the transition is former "band member" Dean Johnson who originally joined BAM Racing alongside Hyder in 2004 as shock specialist. Johnson will now serve as chassis specialist. The team is pleased to bring back together this proven successful combination.
With "the band" now intact, BAM Racing is excited to add a new player to the mix. Louis Duncan, racing aerodynamics pioneer and former director of the RAD program - a research consortium for then team owners Richard Childress, Andy Petree and Dale Earnhardt - of the late 1990s, is lending his expertise to BAM Racing by way of Arrington Engines.
"This has been a season of transition for our team," said team co-owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. "We are now focused on building a strong team that will compete for position in the top-35 in the owner points standings during the crucial first five races of next season. We believe that we have brought together the right group of players to lead our team in pursuit of that goal. We are 'on a mission' just like Jake and Elwood Blues."

Lepage And Team Battle The Elements In Southern California
Team secures 38th place finish despite intense heat and challenging track conditions
FONTANA, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2006) - The NEXTEL Cup Series headed West to southern California this week for the Sony HD 500. The forecast called for lots of sunshine during the race weekend with temperatures over 100 degrees each day. Aware that the heat would create changeable track conditions, the team focused on its qualifying effort during the entire morning practice on Friday before qualifying began that afternoon. After qualifying in the 39th position, Lepage battled a tight racecar for much of the race on Sunday night. He finished the race in 38th place.
After a weekend of intense heat and track temperatures, the BAM Racing team knew that race conditions would vary throughout the night. Everyone was prepared and ready to adjust the car to the changing conditions as needed.
"We've got another hard race ahead of us," radioed Lepage. "We've made a lot of adjustments to the car so let's see what we've got. As always, be safe on pit road and let's have good pit stops all night."
Within a matter of laps, Lepage radioed that the LoanDepot.com Dodge was tight in the center of the turns and on exit. When the first caution of the race came out on lap 11, Lepage told his team that the car needed substantial work. The team quickly pitted for four tires, fuel and opted to put a spring rubber in the right rear.
The adjustments helped the car and when the next caution came out on lap 29, the team made even more aggressive changes. Lepage pitted for four tires, fuel, air pressure and track bar adjustments. He restarted the race in the 33rd position.
As the sun began to set at the mid-point of the race, Lepage was running near the rear of the field and felt as if the car needed more overall grip on the racetrack. Interim crew chief Dean Johnson advised his driver.
"Keep digging, Kevin," radioed Johnson. "I've got some ideas here that I'm working on."
A pit stop on lap 155 allowed the team to try different adjustments to help Lepage. Just laps later, he noted that the changes were a great improvement and the car was the best it had been all night.
The changing track temperatures made the night eventful on pit road. The team was able to quickly adjust and improve the No. 49 Dodge throughout the evening. Determined to make a late-race charge and pick up as many positions as possible, Lepage ran competitive times in the remaining laps of the race. He finished the Sony HD 500 in 38th place running three laps down to winner Kasey Kahne.
"It was incredibly hot this weekend!" said Lepage. "We were not able to find the right balance early enough in the race to finish as strong as we would have liked. With extreme temperatures you have to stay on your toes to keep up with the track. We worked really hard and thought ahead all night long. At the end of the night, we had a great racecar but not enough time to move ahead."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to Richmond International Raceway this Saturday night for the action-packed Chevy Rock and Roll 400. The race will air live on the TNT network at 7:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

Lepage And BAM Racing Team Turn A Corner At Bristol Motor Speedway
Team proves mettle on track with season-best qualifying effort and finish in Sharpie 500
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Aug. 26, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team have turned a corner. Following a series of disappointments, the No. 49 team came to Bristol Motor Speedway with something to prove. After a week of hard work and determination at the race shop, the team started strong on Friday and carried that momentum through the Sharpie 500. Lepage captured a season-best qualifying position of 12th for the BAM Racing organization on Friday and was able to avoid trouble during Saturday night's race to finish in an impressive 21st place.
After a patriotic pre-race ceremony, the field was set to take the green flag for the start of one of the most intense and exciting races of the season. Lepage thanked his team and was set to build upon a solid start to the weekend.
"Let's have a strong run tonight," radioed Lepage. "Thanks for all of your hard work this week. We've had a good start to the weekend, now let's go out and get a good finish."
As racing action began, Lepage found himself "hung out" in the outside lane while being passed by a line of cars. By lap 10, the LoansDepot.com Dodge was running in the 20th position.
Lepage radioed that the car was tight getting into the corners and felt as if it had no grip on the racetrack. When the first caution of the race came out on lap 62, Lepage pitted for four tires, fuel, air pressure and track bar adjustments. He restarted the race in 22nd place.
In a matter of laps, Lepage radioed that the LoansDepot.com Dodge was much better. When a caution came out on lap 89, the team decided not to pit in hopes of gaining track position. Lepage lined up to restart the race in the 19th position.
By lap 110, Lepage radioed that the racecar was extremely tight. When the caution flew on lap 115, the team made several adjustments to improve the No. 49 Dodge. A series of cautions ensued which allowed the team to continue to fine tune the BAM Racing Dodge.
"The car is consistent," radioed Lepage when a caution came out on lap 325. "It's a little tight but I don't think we should change too much on it."
After pitting for four tires, fuel and adjustments, Lepage restarted the race in 23rd place. When the next caution came out on lap 381, Lepage radioed his team with an update.
"Excellent!" said Lepage. "The car is perfect right there. Whatever you did really worked!"
With the car where he wanted it, Lepage ran inside the top-20 for most of the remainder of the race. With only laps to go, he was racing hard with Travis Kvapil for the 20th position. After holding him off for a number of laps, Lepage was passed and finished the race in 21st place tying the season-best finish for the BAM Racing team this year.
"We're definitely back," said Lepage. "What an effort this team put forth this weekend. It was one those nights when everything just felt right and that's a great feeling. We are going to build on this momentum as we head into California and the rest of the season. Our season is beginning now."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to California Speedway next weekend for the Sony HD 500. The race will air live on NBC at 7:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

A Disappointing Day For Lepage And BAM Racing Team In Michigan Lepage collected in accident that ultimately ended day early despite best efforts of team
BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 20, 2006) - Earlier this season, Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team found success at Michigan International Speedway working their way to the lead at one point. Returning to the 2.0-mile tri-oval, the team was confident it would qualify on time for the GFS Marketplace 400 and have a strong run on Sunday. After qualifying in the 39th position, Lepage was unfortunately caught up in an accident on lap 12 that caused substantial damage to the left front fender. Although the crew worked diligently to repair the No. 49 Dodge, the damage would ultimately end the day early for the team. Lepage finished the race in a disappointing 41st place.
As the field approached the green flag, both crew chief Greg Conner and Lepage focused the BAM Racing team on the objectives of the afternoon.
"Let's have a solid team day," radioed Conner. "Everybody look out for each other and let's have a good run today."
"It's been a couple of weeks since we've raced," added Lepage. "Be safe on pit road and remember that everything we learn today will help us build a solid notebook for next year."
When the first of 10 caution flags came out on lap four, Lepage reported that he was happy with the LoansDepot.com Dodge.
"The car is pretty good," radioed Lepage. "It should come to me. Let's not make any changes."
Coming to pit road for right-side tires and fuel, Lepage restarted the race on lap seven in the 29th position.
On lap 12, Lepage found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time when two cars wrecked into each other on the backstretch and squeezed him into the wall. The No. 49 Dodge sustained substantial damage to the left front fender.
The BAM Racing team went to work under caution to repair the damage. Lepage rejoined the field just before the restart. Almost immediately, the team feared Lepage might have a tire rub when smoke was seen coming from the racecar.
"We'll get another caution and keep working on it," Conner radioed his driver. "I know it will be hard to drive for the next few laps but hang in there."
The team used a series of cautions to continue repair work on the No. 49 Dodge. The main concern was preventing more tire rubs caused the weakening front fender.
On lap 93, just as he was being lapped by leader Dale Earnhardt Jr., Lepage cut down the left font tire and was forced onto pit road.
He briefly rejoined the race before the team decided to bring the LoansDepot.com Dodge to the garage area to repair the damaged fender. No one wanted to risk an accident that could injure Lepage or further damage the racecar. Unfortunately, the damage was extensive and could not be repaired. The day ended early for the team and Lepage finished the race in 41st place.
"We had a good car today," commented Lepage. "It's one of those situations where we got caught up in someone else's accident. We were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The team worked hard all afternoon to make repairs to the No. 49 Dodge and I am proud of everyone's efforts today."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to race under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway next weekend for the Sharpie 500. The race will air live on the TNT network at 7:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on PRN.
Bam Racing Team Puts Forth Collaborative Effort At Watkins Glen
Team works with road course expert to improve equipment and on-track performance
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 13, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team were taking no chances heading into the second and final road course event of the season. Following a disappointing weekend in Indianapolis, the team focused its attention on qualifying for the AMD at the Glen at Watkins Glen International. During the week, the team tested its racecars at Virginia International Raceway with the assistance and guidance of road-course expert and instructor Chris Cook.
In a truly collaborative effort, the team and drivers worked together to make improvements to the No. 49 Dodge in Friday?s practice session prior to qualifying at the Glen. With 50 teams and seven road course "ringers" on the entry list, everyone was focused on the task before them.
Lepage began the practice session with Cook on hand to assist the team. After several runs, Cook replaced Lepage in the No. 49 Dodge to provide valuable feedback to the team. Adjustments were made to the DSI Dodge and Cook finished the session with a fast lap time of 75.217 seconds in 47th place.
The entire BAM Racing organization, including Lepage, realized that qualifying at the 2.45-mile road-course would be highly competitive with little room for error. With a respected road course driver standing by with the team, the decision was made to have Cook substitute for Lepage and qualify the No. 49 Dodge.
Cook posted a qualifying speed of 118.601 miles per hour with a fast lap time of 74.367 seconds. Running nearly one second faster than he did in practice, Cook qualified the DSI Dodge in the 36th position based solely on speed. However, due to the current owner points system used for Nextel Cup qualifying, the time was not fast enough. Cook missed the field for Sunday?s race by just over one-tenth of a second and one position.
"I am proud of the effort this team put forth today," commented Lepage. "Everyone worked together and decisions were made to give our team the best possible chance to make the field. Chris (Cook) was impressive in his qualifying run. He picked up nearly a second over his practice time but unfortunately we missed the field. We will move forward from here and focus on Michigan."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series returns to Michigan International Speedway next weekend for the GFS Marketplace 400. The race will air live on the TNT network at 2:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

BAM Racing welcomes the return of DSI, a highly-diversified financial service company based in Germany, as sponsor of the No. 49 Dodge this weekend. DSI is a publicly traded company in Germany on the German Stock Exchange and offers services in real estate investments as well as sport and television rights management. DSI is currently utilizing racing sponsorships in an effort to increase company awareness in Germany where the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race will be aired. Lepage And Team Unable To Qualify For Allstate 400 At The Brickyard Team misses field for prestigious event; Prepares for final road course event of season
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 7, 2006) - After a weekend off from Nextel Cup racing, Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team were eager to build upon their qualifying success at Pocono Raceway two weeks earlier. At Pocono, the team was able to pick up over a second from its practice speeds to be the fastest of the cars forced to qualify on time. Hoping that momentum would carry over to the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, both driver and team found themselves in a packed field of competitors attempting to qualify for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
In a scenario that many are forecasting to be commonplace in 2007, there were 50 competitors on the entry list for Sunday's race. With past champion Bill Elliot guaranteed a starting position, there were 14 cars vying for seven positions.
Lepage hit the track for both practice sessions on Friday in full qualifying mode. He finished the final practice session prior to qualifying in the 38th position after posting a fast lap time of 50.856 seconds.
Although qualifying for most Nextel Cup events occurs on Fridays, qualifying for the race at the Brickyard was scheduled on Saturday morning. With temperatures that day expected to be high, Lepage and team were hopeful for an early draw in the qualifying order. However, luck was not on their side as Lepage was the third from the last competitor to take the track.
Lepage posted a qualifying speed of 177.103 miles per hour and a fast lap time of 50.818 seconds. Unfortunately, the effort was not strong enough to secure the team a place in the starting lineup for one of the more prestigious races of the season. Lepage qualified in the 47th position.
"I don't know what to say about our effort today," said Lepage. "We work hard every week to make races and compete. We are constantly learning and improving. We have come so far as a team in just a few months. I'm disappointed in our results today."
With the second road course event of the season on the horizon, the BAM Racing team continues to make every effort to succeed. Lepage and team will test at Virginia International Raceway this week to prepare for the Nextel Cup Series return to Watkins Glen International.
"We are a full-time team committed to running competitively every weekend," commented team co-owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. "We realize that we are in a challenging situation but our goals remain the same. We are working hard on all aspects of our program to qualify for every race and to prepare ourselves to secure position in the owner points standings in the first five races of next season."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Watkins Glen International next weekend for the final road course event of the season. The AMD at the Glen will air live on NBC at 2:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.
Lepage And BAM Racing Team Improve Performance At Pocono Raceway
Team battles tight racecar and new tire from Goodyear; Secures 34th place finish
LONG POND, Penn. (July 23, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team returned to Pocono Raceway this weekend for the second NASCAR Nextel Cup Series event of the season at the 2.5-mile tri-oval. The team came to Pocono Raceway with an improved race package from the previous race held just six weeks ago. The hard work and efforts of the team paid off when Lepage qualified for Sunday's Pennsylvania 500 in a respectable 34th position. Lepage battled a tight racecar most of the afternoon, but worked with the team to improve the No. 49 Dodge and ultimately finish the race in 34th place.
With rain canceling both practice sessions on Saturday, the team was forced to take the track without practice laps on the new left-side tire from Goodyear and with little time to work on race set-up. Lepage encouraged his team as the field approached the green flag to start the race.
"Our hard work over these past weeks is paying off," Lepage radioed his team. "Be confident in what we have and we will make changes once we get started. Let's do our best and have a good day."
In a matter of laps, Lepage radioed that the LoansDepot.com Dodge was extremely tight. Most competitors echoed Lepage early in the race with tight handling racecars that were hard to turn. By lap 12, Lepage had fallen seven positions and was running in the 41st position. With a competition caution expected around lap 20, the team prepared to make significant changes.
When NASCAR displayed the caution on lap 22, Lepage brought the No. 49 Dodge to pit road for four tires, fuel, left and right side track bar adjustments, and air pressure adjustments. The changes improved the handling of the racecar, as did further adjustments throughout the race.
By lap 45, Lepage had worked his way up from 43rd place to the 30th position and was running strong. The No. 49 team used green flag pit stops around lap 60, and again near lap 125, to make further improvements to the racecar. With 50 laps to go in the race, Lepage was running in the 35th position.
Because the team had no practice time with the new tire, and no notes to draw upon, the afternoon was a learning experience. Toward the end of the race, Lepage felt the No. 49 Dodge was dialed in.
"We came to Pocono with a better package than before," commented Lepage. "We worked all afternoon to adjust to the new tire. It was a long afternoon just to finish in 34th place, but that's what happens at larger tracks when you start near the back of the field. The car was good near the end but we were too far behind to make up much ground that late in the race."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series will enjoy its last weekend off of the season this weekend. The series returns to racing action at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on August 6, 2006. The race will air live on NBC at 2:00 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live by IMS.

Lepage and BAM Racing Team Poised for Strong Return to Pocono Raceway... After weeks of preparation and recent testing in Indianapolis, Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team are poised to make a strong return to Pocono Raceway. In June, Lepage qualified for the Pocono 500 in the 41st position. After battling a loose condition, Lepage was running solidly in the middle of the field by the mid-point of the race. He unfortunately ran out of gas prior to green flag pit stops around lap 125. The BAM Racing team remained calm under pressure and quickly pitted the No. 49 Dodge losing only one lap in what could have been a severe blow to the team. Lepage ultimately finished the race in 41st place.
Pocono Manor Resort Joins BAM Racing for Pennsylvania 500... Pocono Manor Resort returns to sponsor Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team in the upcoming Pennsylvania 500 on July 23, 2006. Pocono Manor Resort sponsored the No. 49 Dodge in the Pocono 500 earlier this season.
"Our team really enjoyed staying at Pocono Manor Resort during the race weekend. It is an historic place that has character and distinction," said Beth Ann Morgenthau. "We are excited to have Pocono Manor Resort return as a sponsor. It makes the BAM Racing team feel connected to the legacies of this area."
Lepage at Pocono Raceway... Lepage has 11 Nextel Cup Series starts at Pocono Raceway. He has qualified in the top-20 twice with a track-best starting position of 18th (06/19/00) and an average starting position of 32.1. Lepage has two top-20 finishes with a track-best finish of 17th (06/24/99) and an average finish of 29.0 at the 2.5-mile tri-oval.
Lepage on Pocono Raceway... "When we ran at Pocono earlier this season we learned quite a bit and have applied it to our car for this weekend. We also made great strides when we tested at Indianapolis recently. Since both tracks are similar with long straight-aways, we really think we have a good package for this weekend. We have come so far as a team in just a couple of months. I am proud of what we have accomplished."

LoansDepot.com feels that the best way to ensure this is to place the loan request in a nationwide network of lenders. LoansDepot.com believes that when lenders compete the applicant wins.

Kevin Lepage And BAM Racing Make On-Track Statement In Loudon
Vermont native avoids trouble, finishes strong; Demonstrates continued efforts of team
LOUDON, N.H. (July 16, 2006) - Vermont native Kevin Lepage can remember racing at New Hampshire International Speedway before the current facility ever existed. The only active Nextel Cup driver hailing from New England, Lepage drew upon his roots in racing and years of experience at the track to secure a 38th place starting position for the Lenox Industrial Tools 300. On Sunday, the BAM Racing team worked tirelessly in the pits to make improvements to the State Water Heaters Dodge while Lepage successfully avoided trouble on the track to capture a 30th place finish.
As the field approached the green flag in front of over 100,000 fans, the BAM Racing team stood atop the pit wall as Lepage thanked the crew members for all of their hard work.
"Here we go guys," Lepage radioed his team. "We've worked hard this week and we're going to run all day. Be safe on pit road and I'll see you in 300 hundred miles."
In a matter of laps, Lepage radioed that the State Water Heaters Dodge was tight in the center of the turns and on exit. When the first of 11 cautions came out on lap 21, Lepage pitted for four tires and fuel as well as air pressure and track bar adjustments.
On lap 40, Lepage's wife and spotter Donna Lepage radioed her driver with valuable information that could help the No. 49 Dodge pick up time and position on the track.
"It looks as if the No. 17 car is making up some pretty good time running on the outside," radioed Donna Lepage.
Ready to move forward through the field, Lepage began to experience a brake vibration on lap 50 while running in the 39th position. By lap 90, he relayed that the vibration was making the racecar bounce all over the track.
As the day progressed, many of the series' top drivers experienced troubles and found themselves fighting to stay in the race. Drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joe Nemechek, Travis Kvapil and Michael Waltrip fell out of the race. Several points contenders were involved in accidents, including Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman, and tempers ran hot.
"Keep an eye out for the 20 and 12 cars if they get close to each other," crew chief Greg Conner warned Lepage. "They wrecked earlier and they are not happy with each other."
Lepage was able to avoid trouble on the track all afternoon. He experienced a close call on lap 201 when he was forced onto to pit road to avoid a multi-car accident. NASCAR penalized Lepage moments laps later for failing to reduce his speed as he passed through pit road. He was forced to restart the race at the tail end of the longest line in the 31st position.
By lap 220, Lepage radioed that State Water Heaters Dodge was the best that it had been all day. Although he was running two laps down as the race came to an eventful end, Lepage was able to make a late-race charge during a green/white/checkered finish to pass the No. 88 car of Dale Jarrett for position and finish the race in 30th place.
"By the end of the day we really had the car dialed in," said Lepage. "We now have a lot of knowledge to help us when we come back here later in the season. We are going to have to look at our brakes before we return to Loudon. The vibration really hindered our progress on the track. Overall, this day was a success for our team and sponsors."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Pocono Raceway next weekend for the Pennsylvania 500. The race will air live on TNT at 1:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

Lepage on Chicagoland Speedway... "Our intermediate program is pretty solid and I feel confident heading into this weekend. We have faced some challenges recently, but we remain focused on our goal for the season. We intend to regain position in the top-35 for the 2007 season. I only have three starts at Chicagoland Speedway, but I like racing at 1.5-mile tracks and I know we have a strong car."

Lepage And Team Fail To Qualify In Daytona Despite Best Efforts
BAM Racing to continue its focus on improving restrictor-plate program
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 3, 2006) - Kevin Lepage returned to driving duties for BAM Racing this weekend at Daytona International Speedway for the Pepsi 400. Coming off of a disappointing weekend in Sonoma, the team was aware of the challenges it would face in qualifying for the third restrictor-plate race of the season. After finishing both practice sessions on Friday in the 42nd position, there would be no room for error during qualifying later that afternoon. Despite the best efforts of both driver and team, Lepage failed to qualify for Saturday night's race missing the field by two positions.
With a total of 48 entries for the second race of the season at the 2.5-mile tri-oval, thirteen competitors outside of the top-35 in the owner points standings were vying for eight positions.
As NASCAR Nextel Cup qualifying began under sunny Florida skies, crew chief Greg Conner relayed to his driver that most cars were faster on their second lap, but slower overall than in earlier practice sessions.
"It's hard to tell what the outcome will be today," said Conner. "It seems as if everybody is slowing down a bit. If we can back up what we ran in practice, and possibly pick up a couple of tenths, we should be ok."
Lepage was the 27th competitor to take the track for qualifying and posted a fast speed of 182.960 miles per hour with a lap time of 49.191 seconds.
Unfortunately, Lepage's effort was not fast enough to secure a starting position in the Pepsi 400. Although he was 38th fastest in qualifying, five drivers were forced to use owner points for Saturday's race including Kasey Kahne, Casey Mears and Jeff Burton. Ultimately, Lepage qualified in the 45th position, missing the race by two spots.
"This organization has come a long way in its restrictor-plate program since Talladega," commented Lepage. "After missing that race, the team went back to the drawing board and made significant changes to the racecar. We are on the right track and hopefully will be able to get all the right pieces in place before we return to Talladega in October."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Chicagoland Speedway next weekend for the USG Sheetrock 400. The race will air live on TNT at 3:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.

Lepage on Daytona International Speedway... ?I?m looking forward to building upon my success in the two previous restrictor-plate races this season. I had a top-10 finish going at Talladega in April before I was involved in a late-race accident. I really enjoy restrictor-plate races because they are like big chess games. You have to put yourself in the right position, figure out who you work well with, and be there at the end. It?s the last 20 laps that count.?

Mother Nature Forces Lepage And Team To Take Chances In Michigan
Rainy weather prompts team to employ pit strategy; Lepage secures 34th place finish
BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 19, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team were confident heading into the 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway. After running in the top-20 in Friday's practice session, Lepage qualified for Sunday's race in the 29th position. Making continual progress as a team, and steadily regaining position in the owner points standings, the group knew that timing would be everything under gray skies in Michigan on Sunday. Successful pit strategy allowed Lepage to run in the top-15 and lead the field at one point before the race ended early due to rain.
After a brief weather delay, the race was set to start before a crowd of 145,000 race fans. Lepage radioed the team with words of appreciation.
"We're improving each week as a team," said Lepage. "We're going to be even better this week. I'll see you in 400 miles. That is, unless Mother Nature has anything to say about it."
Racing action got off to a slow start with three caution periods in the first 25 laps. Although Lepage did not have may green flag laps behind him, he relayed that the No. 49 Dodge was slightly loose. Under caution on lap 13, the team opted to pit for four tires, fuel and air pressure adjustments. Lepage restarted the race in 36th place.
When the fourth caution of the day came out for a multi-car accident on lap 32, Lepage and team chose not to pit even though the racecar remained loose. With impending weather on the horizon, and the likelihood that the race could be rain-shortened, the team chose to stay out for track position. Lepage lined up to restart the race in the 15th position.
Lepage began trying different lines on the track to see where the No. 49 Dodge was the fastest. When a caution for rain came out on lap 55, he was running in the 23rd position. By lap 80, Lepage relayed that the racecar was tight in turns three and four.
"The track is just going to get tighter and tighter," responded crew chief Greg Conner. "We're going to try to stay ahead of it."
When the eighth caution flag of the race came out for debris on lap 110, pit strategy came into play for the BAM Racing team. With ominous skies overhead, reports of impending rain prompted the team to delay coming onto pit road until the signal was given for one lap to go before the restart.
As a result, Lepage was credited with leading a lap which earned the team five bonus points. He came to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments just before the restart and lined up in the 34th position.
Then, just ten laps later, the skies opened and rain forced the yellow, then red, flag to wave. The race was shortened due to rain and Lepage finished the 3M Performance 400 in 34th place.
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Infineon Raceway for the first road course event of the season. The Dodge/Save Mart 350 will air live on the FOX at 3:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on PRN this Sunday.
Kevin Lepage on the 3M Performance 400:
"Each weekend holds two races for this team. There is the race on the track and the race for position in the points standings. We are racing to earn our way back into the top-35 in the owner points standings and secure a guaranteed starting position each week. When we found out that rain was reportedly just minutes away from the track, we knew we could possibly lead a lap under caution and pick up five bonus points. We were able to do that and then came to pit road before the restart. When it starting raining a few minutes later we were all thinking the same thing. Had it rained just ten laps earlier, we would have won the race!"

In a NASCAR racing career that began over 20 years ago, Lepage has captured two wins, five pole awards, 21 top-five and 60 top-10 finishes. In what could be considered a storied career for any veteran, Lepage sees the milestone as an accomplishment to build upon.
"It gives me a sense of pride and satisfaction to know that I have been in NASCAR racing for 20 years and have just completed my 400th race," commented Lepage. "Longevity in this sport is no small accomplishment. Although many drivers would be satisfied with a career record like mine, I am looking forward to many more achievements in this sport. I feel my best racing lies in front of me."
Lepage at Michigan International Speedway... Lepage has 11 Nextel Cup Series starts at Michigan International Speedway. He has qualified in the top-five twice with a track-best starting position of 4th (08/17/03) and an average starting position of 25.0. Lepage on Michigan International Speedway... "Michigan International Speedway is all about horsepower and endurance. Having a strong racecar is the key to success. The track is big and wide, and it will test the equipment and drivers of even the strongest teams. I'm looking forward to Michigan because it is similar to Lowe's Motor Speedway, which is one my favorite tracks. Although we didn't have the results we hoped for in Charlotte recently, this team has worked hard to come together over the past few weeks."

(June 13, 2006) - NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Kevin Lepage found himself in "hot water" with sponsor State Water Heaters this week as he received a state-of-the-art, continuous flow State Premier Power-Vent water heater at his home in North Carolina. What makes this so special? Well, imagine never running out of hot water at home again.
The State Premier Power-Vent water heater is a 90% thermally efficient unit designed for today's lifestyles. Perfect for high-demand residential applications, consumers no longer have to worry about a limited hot water supply. As Lepage can attest, the luxuries of today require modern technologies.
"My wife Donna and I have a beautiful master bathroom with a stunning view over a lake," commented Lepage. "With an oversized whirlpool tub, we found that our old standard water heater couldn't supply us with enough hot water to fill it completely. Now we will be able to enjoy all of our household amenities, including the garden tub, without the worry of running out of hot water."
On hand for the installation was the engineer who designed the unit as well as a local contractor who installed it.
"As I listened to the engineer describe the advantages of the State Premier Power-Vent to the local contractor, I began to appreciate the many benefits of the unit," continued Lepage. "First, it will fit in the same area as nearly all existing water heaters. So, most homes already have the space necessary for the unit. When you take into consideration that it has a higher thermal efficiency than tankless water heaters, there's no reason why today's households wouldn't choose this new unit with the benefits of a non-stop supply of hot water and lower energy costs."
"We are excited about the ability of this new unit to provide both very large amounts of hot water and the highest thermal efficiency in the industry," said Jeff Storie, Marketing Brand Manager for State Water Heaters. "Kevin and Donna expressed to us that their old unit did not meet their hot water needs and we were happy to help provide a solution. Now after a hard weekend of racing, Kevin can relax in a whirlpool that is completely full of hot water."
Although Lepage and his wife, who serves as his race spotter each weekend, spend a majority of their time on the road, they have a great appreciation for the comforts of home.
"It's nice to know that when we get home from a race we can relax with a hot shower or bath, take care of the laundry, and handle other household chores without worry, " said Lepage. "With today's demanding and fast-paced lifestyles, product reliability is a necessity and we know this new unit from State will stand the test of time."
Lepage And Team Focus On Strategy At Pocono Raceway
LONG POND, Pa. (June 12, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team were eager to overcome a disappointing finish at Dover International Speedway with a strong run at Pocono Raceway. Cool weather and impending rain created concern prior to qualifying on Friday, however the team was able to secure a 41st place starting position for Sunday's Pocono 500. Aware that this was the first of two scheduled events at the track this season, the team planned to take advantage of every opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into its race package for the 2.0-mile tri-oval. An eventful afternoon yielded Lepage a 31st place finish.
As racing action was set to begin, Lepage radioed the team with a reminder of the opportunity in front of them.
"Thanks for all of your hard work this week," commented Lepage. "Although we did not have the qualifying effort we hoped for, let's do our best and try to learn something for when we come back here in six weeks."
In the early laps of the race, Lepage radioed that the Pocono Manor Resorts Dodge was loose coming off of the tunnel turn and was losing grip in turns two and three. When a caution came out on lap 22, Lepage noted the car was beginning to come to him. Not wanting to overcorrect the problems, the No. 49 team opted to pit for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment.
The team used the next few caution periods to try various adjustments on the racecar and to experiment with different pit strategies. A two-tire pit stop on lap 64 did not have positive results and was quickly corrected under caution just a few laps later.
By the mid-point of the race, Lepage was running solidly in the middle of the field. He tried running different lines on the track to see where the No. 49 Dodge was the strongest. As green flag stops began on lap 125, the team employed a fuel-mileage strategy in the hopes of gaining track position. Unfortunately, a miscalculation resulted in the BAM Racing Dodge running out of gas and bringing out the yellow flag.
True to form, the BAM Racing team remained calm under pressure and quickly pitted the No. 49 Dodge losing only one lap in what could have been a severe blow to the team.
Lepage was able to avoid the biggest problem of the day faced by such drivers as Terry Labonte and Jeff Gordon. Gordon hit the wall in turn-one after his brakes failed and the race was red-flagged for close to 15 minutes as the track was cleared of debris.
"We need to look at this package before we come back next month, especially the brakes," radioed Lepage. "Brake wear is always an issue here, and this is not the type of track where you want your brakes to give out."
The BAM Racing team continued to take full advantage of the learning opportunity in front of them for the remainder of the race. Although Lepage finished the race three laps down in the 31st position, the team was able to gain valuable insights into its racing program at Pocono Raceway.
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the 3M Performance 400. The race will air live on the FOX at 1:00 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN this Sunday.
Kevin Lepage on the Pocono 500:
"We certainly learned a lot about our race package for Pocono this weekend. We were able to see aspects that clearly worked and others that did not. We tried some adjustments and strategies that fell short of what we expected, but we will be that more prepared when we return to the track at the end of July. We continue to grow as a team and build upon our experiences. We would have liked a better finish, but we gained some valuable knowledge this weekend."

Lepage and Team Focused on "Big Picture" Heading into Pocono Raceway... Driver Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team are focused on the "big picture" for the remainder of the 2006 season. After a rough start to the season, the group made a strong statement last Friday at Dover International Speedway. Lepage and team were the fastest of the field for the majority of the first practice session. They followed that achievement by capturing a season-best 18th place qualifying position later that afternoon. Although misfortune struck during Sunday's race, the team is not dissuaded from the goal of regaining position in the top-35 of the owner points standings by the end of the season.
Lepage has 10 Nextel Cup Series starts at Pocono Raceway. He has qualified in the top-20 twice with a track-best starting position of 18th (06/19/00) and an average starting position of 31.2. Lepage has two top-20 finishes with a track-best finish of 17th (06/24/99) and an average finish of 28.8 at the 2.5-mile tri-oval.
Kevin Lepage on Pocono Raceway... "We are bringing a car to Pocono that we have not run yet this season. There's always a bit of anticipation when you unload at the track with a new car. Hopefully, it will be everything we expect it to be. The team last ran this car in Indianapolis, and since both tracks have long straight-aways we are optimistic that this is the best car to bring this weekend."
Crew Chief Greg Conner on Pocono Raceway... "Pocono is a three-turn track where each turn is different. The challenge is that when you get the racecar to handle well in one turn, it doesn't necessarily handle well in the other two. Whichever turn we find we can gain the most ground in is the on we focus our efforts on during practice."

Misfortune Ends Successful Weekend For Kevin Lepage At Dover
DOVER, Del. (June 5, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the State Water Heaters team were focused on achieving success at Dover International Speedway this past weekend. With hard work and determination, Lepage and team were the fastest of the field for the majority of the first practice session on Friday. He followed that achievement by capturing a season-best 18th place qualifying position later that afternoon. Prepared for a strong run on Sunday, Lepage battled a loose racecar and faced unfortunate events during the race that ultimately ended the day early for the team. He finished the Neighborhood Excellence 400 in 39th place.
As racing action began, crew chief Greg Conner focused his driver and team on the precarious nature of Dover International Speedway.
"Things happen in a hurry here," Conner radioed his team. "Stay alert, stay focused, and have a safe day gentlemen."
In a matter of laps, Lepage radioed that the BAM Racing Dodge was loose throughout the corners. When the first caution of the day came out on lap 37, the No. 49 team opted to pit for substantial track bar and air pressure adjustments as well as four tires and fuel.
The team used the next few caution periods to fine tune the handling on the State Water Heaters Dodge. By lap 275, Lepage radioed that the car was the best it had been all day.
"This is a lot better," said Lepage. "The car has more direction. Let's run with it and see what we get."
On lap 299, however, misfortune struck the team when Lepage ran over a brake rotor from a previous accident and punctured the engine oil cooler on the BAM Racing Dodge while breaking the mounting brackets. He brought the racecar to the garage where several crew members quickly changed the engine oil cooler and brackets. Other team members changed the front shock absorbers on the racecar to improve its performance on track.
Receiving the go ahead from NASCAR officials, Lepage returned to the race on lap 315. On lap 317, he posted his best lap speed of the day having picked up three-tenths of a second due to the changes made.
However, despite the quick action and best efforts of the team, the engine on the No. 49 Dodge was damaged by the brake rotor and blew up the very next lap. The race ended early for the BAM Racing team and Lepage finished in the 39th position.
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Pocono 500. The race will air live on the FOX at 1:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN this Sunday.
Kevin Lepage on the Neighborhood Excellence 400:
"We were strong all weekend and had a really good car. This team has worked hard and it showed on track this weekend. Unfortunately, we ran over some debris and were forced to change the engine oil cooler on the car. We were able to get back on track but blew the engine just a couple of laps later. It was completely out of our control. We need to keep an eye on the big picture. This weekend was a building block for the team and we will come back stronger in Pocono."

New England Native Kevin Lepage Heads North to the "Monster Mile"... Vermont native Kevin Lepage and the BAM Racing team are eager to return to racing action this weekend at Dover International Speedway. After missing the field for the Coca-Cola 600 last weekend in Charlotte, the team is determined to put disappointment in the past. Lepage qualified for the race in 42nd place in time trials, but missed the field by one position when two teams used owner points to make the race. In his last start at Dover International Speedway, Lepage qualified 35th and was prepared to move to the front of the field when he was involved in an accident near the mid-point of the race. He finished the race in the 40th position.
Lepage has 14 Nextel Cup Series starts at Dover International Speedway. He has qualified in the top-five twice at the "Monster Mile" with a track-best starting position of fourth (09/20/98) and an average starting position of 28.9. Lepage has three top-20 finishes with track-best finish of 12th (09/20/98) and an average finish of 27.9 at the one-mile concrete oval.
BAM Racing Welcomes Crew Chief Greg Conner to the No. 49 Team... Greg Conner has joined BAM Racing as crew chief for the No. 49 Dodge and driver Kevin Lepage. He began the season at Peak Performance Motorsports, which was subsequently bought by Front Row Motorsports, before moving to BAM Racing. A Hampton, Va. native, Conner has worked with drivers such as Dick Trickle, Ricky Craven and Robert Pressley. This is Conner's second season serving as crew chief for Lepage in the Nextel Cup Series.
Kevin Lepage on Dover International Speedway ... "The two keys to success at Dover are tire management and track position. Tires will wear out so you have to be sure not use them up too quickly. Track position is important because It's very hard to pass at Dover. Pit stops will be crucial as well as securing a good starting position. We are going to be focusing all of our attention on our qualifying effort, not only because we have to qualify on time, but to get any advantage we can by starting near the front of the field."

Kevin Lepage And Bam Racing Look To Future With Determination
Driver and team not deterred after missing the field for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 by one position
CONCORD, N.C. (May 27, 2006) - Kevin Lepage and the State Water Heaters team returned to Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend after a team-building run in the Nextel Open. Everyone knew the stakes would be high leading into one of the biggest events in the NEXTEL Cup Series. With 53 competitors entered in the Coca-Cola 600, 17 cars were vying for seven positions in Sunday's race. The No. 49 team, among those cars required to qualify on time, knew there would be very little room for error when Lepage hit the track to qualify on Thursday night.
Lepage was the 32nd competitor to qualify and the team was optimistic as air and track temperatures began to cool. Lepage posted a fast time of 29.779 seconds and finished 42nd in time trials. Unfortunately, he missed the field by one position due to the use of owner points by two other teams.
With the high number of entries for the event, along with concerns over the sets of qualifying tires the team received from NASCAR, everyone understood that there were factors at play that were beyond their control.
For instance, when teams receive sets of qualifying tires prior to getting on the track, they must decide which set they will use for their qualifying run and no changes are allowed. A source of frustration for many teams, both Lepage and the No. 49 crew became concerned when other sets of tires they received for qualifying were "tight" and slowed the car up to three-tenths of a second during practice.
"There's nothing we can do about the tires we qualify with," said team manager Eddie Jones. "Quite frankly, it's a NASCAR rule and many teams don't see the logic behind it. Teams must use the tires that they are given. We do not get to choose our own sets and have no say in the decision-making process. The sets of tires we received this week were equal; they all ran the same slow speeds. However, I can't say that they were equal to those of other teams."
BAM Racing has been through a transition period over the past few weeks with driver and crew changes. With the addition of Lepage and crew chief Greg Conner, the team feels it experiencing a new beginning.
"In essence, this is a brand new team," commented team co-owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. "We are disappointed that we didn't make the race, but we understand that this is a process. Now that we have made some necessary changes, we expect to get better each week."
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series heads to Dover International Speedway for the Neighborhood Excellence 400 next weekend. The race will air live on the FX Network at 1:30 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on MRN.
Kevin Lepage on Qualifying for the Coca-Cola 600:
"To be honest, I'm surprised that we didn't make the race this weekend. I've always done well at Lowe's Motor Speedway and it's one of my favorite tracks. I know there were factors out of our control, but the bottom line is that we aren't racing on Sunday. I don't have any excuses for that. However, I do have the determination it takes to succeed as does BAM Racing and its sponsors. We now have to focus our efforts on the future and the upcoming race in Dover."

Kevin Lepage Considers Lowe's Motor Speedway a Favorite Track... NASCAR veteran driver Kevin Lepage is excited to return to Lowe's Motor Speedway, one of his favorite tracks, this weekend for the Coca-Cola 600. The State Water Heaters team had a solid run last weekend at the speedway in the Nextel Open. Lepage qualified in the 21st position but was forced to move to the rear of the field due to post-qualifying repairs made to the No. 49 Dodge. He was able to battle his way to a 17th place finish in just 30 laps. It was the first time for BAM Racing, Lepage and State Water
